Beat goes on for No. 2 Humboldt
Wildcats win twice, improve to 17-1
HUMBOLDT — The second-ranked Humboldt softball team picked up two victories on Friday, knocking off St. Edmond and Southeast Valley.
The Gaels (6-9 overall) dropped a 6-1 contest to the Wildcats (17-1).
Freshman Ellie Jacobson led the Wildcats in the circle and at the plate. Jacobson allowed six hits and struck out 11 Gaels.
She was 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBI. Carlie Thompson and Avery Terwilliger also drove in runs.
Thompson also stole four bases.
Macey Mason had a double for the Gaels and Erin Flattery drove in a run.
The Wildcats then won their second game on the day and seventh in a row, defeating the Jaguars 2-1.
Terwilliger had two hits and a double and Beth Duffield had two hits. Terwilliger also had an RBI and picked up the win, while Jacobson earned the save.
Southeast Valley’s Jamie Ferrari had a triple. The Jaguars are now 12-4 overall.
