FD girls win again

The Fort Dodge girls soccer team jumped back into the win column with a 6-0 victory over Humboldt inside Dodger Stadium on Thursday.

The Dodgers (6-3 overall), now winners of five of their last six, took a 4-0 lead by halftime before closing out with two goals in the final half for their fifth shutout of the season.

“It was nice to see our girls keep their focus,” said Fort Dodge head coach Michael Lee. “We played our game and felt good with the outcome.”

Lee was pleased to see the Dodgers spread the ball around, with six different players scoring. Iris Peimann, Meagan Hartman, Hannah Amhof, Mara Crimmins, Kacee Gollob and Raeya Love all found the back of the net.

“It was great to see that we are spreading the goals around,” Lee said. “We are not relying on one our two people for all the scoring and we’re moving the ball around.

“We had total focus and didn’t make any mistakes. We have a tough schedule coming up and we will be able to see what level we have achieved.”

The Dodgers are back in action on Friday when they host Johnston. Action begins at 7:30 p.m. inside Dodger Stadium.
