FD girls handle Mason City

The Fort Dodge girls tennis team picked up a 7-4 victory over Mason City here Thursday evening.

Beth Murman, Gretta Leigh, Kathryn Cochrane and Noelle Barber all had wins in singles to lead the Dodgers.

Murman picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Sydney Rottinghaus at the No. 1 spot, while Leigh bested Bailey Vandusseldorp, at No. 2, 6-1, 7-5.

“Beth and Gretta both had solid wins in singles,” FDSH head coach Martha Stover said. “This was a nice win to get. The girls played well in their singles matches.”

Cochrane and Barber each swept their matches.

In doubles, Murman and Leigh, Cochrane and Barber, and Alexis Erickson and Taylor Gibson scored victories.

Fort Dodge returns to action Friday at Urbandale.
