Dodger girls win twice
EAGLE GROVE — The Fort Dodge girls track team competed in their first meet here Thursday night, scoring a pair of first place finishes.
Shariah Smith ran a 12.63 to claim first in the 100 and likely secure a spot in the Drake Relays. Smith also paired up with Shareece Smith, Maggie Harvey and Daphne Alstott to win the 4×200 in 2:04.
“That was a good time for Shariah,” FDSH head coach Todd Constable said. “It was just good to get out and compete. We had some mistakes, but we’ll correct them and move forward.”
The distance medley of Harvey, Shareece Smith, Tessa Widen and Baili Roberts was third, while Maddie Klocko, Olivia Mitchell, Brylea Grady and Adyson McKinney also claimed bronze.
Klocko, a sophomore, was third in the 800.
On the junior varsity side, Fort Dodge was second in the 4×100 and 4×200, with Grady adding a second in the 400.
Kyanna Kirk, Mckenna Bishop, Sarah Rodriguez and Avery Thompson ran the 4×100, with Bishop, Thompson, Mylea Rork and Annie Niemeyer running the 4×200.
The Dodgers are back in action Monday at Boone.
