The Fort Dodge girls tennis team had no trouble with Marshalltown here Thursday, scoring an 8-3 victory.

Beth Murman, Gretta Leigh, Kathryn Cochrane and Anna Bruen all scored wins in singles, with the Dodgers (2-0 overall) clinching the dual with four wins in doubles.

“It was good to see us continue to play well after Tuesday’s win (over Southeast Polk, 9-2),” FDSH head coach Martha Stover said. “We had some tough matches, but the girls played well. It was good to come back and win some (super-tiebreaker sets).”

Murman and Barber, Leigh and Cochrane, Bruen and Cate Hatton, and Alexis Erickson and Taylor Gibson were winners in doubles for Fort Dodge.

“Gretta and Kathryn got themselves in a funk, but were able to battle back,” Stover said. “Everybody played real solid tennis.”

Murman scored another easy win at the No. 1 singles spot, besting Emily Martin, 6-0, 6-2. She has allowed just two points in two matches.

The Dodgers are back in action Saturday when they compete in a tournament in Johnston.
