SE’s Flattery first team all-NCC
Megan Flattery was named to the all-North Central Conference first team for her efforts on the hardwood this past season.
Flattery, a senior for St. Edmond, was joined by Algona’s Maddie Miller and Aliyah Buscher, Humboldt’s Avery Terwilliger and Clear Lake’s trio of Emily Snelling, Jessica Faber and Sara Faber.
Miller and Snelling were both unanimous selections.
Flattery finished her career with the Gaels ranked in the Top-10 for scoring and first overall in games played. During NCC play, the three-year starter averaged just under 12 points and was second in the conference with 8.3 rebounds per game.
“Megan left her mark on our program and we will miss her talents,” SEHS head coach Scott Messerly said. “She is one of the hardest workers I have ever coached. She has always listened to everything we asked of her and there is not a better teammate out there.
“Megan is a very special person and this is a well-deserved honor. I wouldn’t trade her for anything.”
Miller led the NCC in field goal percentage, shooting almost 55 percent from the floor. The Bulldog senior averaged 16.6 points, which trailed only Snelling’s 20.
Terwilliger, a senior, was tops in the league at 5.2 assists per game. while Buscher — who is just a freshman — was in the Top-8 in points, assists and steals.
Making the second team were Humboldt seniors Halie George and Abi Zaugg, Algona freshman Abbey Holmes and Webster city ninth-grader Taylor McKinney.
Algona’s Janna Julius and Clarion-Goldfield/Dows’ Hannah Terhark were on the third-team.
Clear Lake finished 13-1 in NCC play and advanced to the Class 3A state tournament. Algona and Humboldt were tied for second with matching 11-3 marks. The Bulldogs captured the Tradition Division title at 5-1, a game ahead of the Wildcats.
