PANORA — The season came to an end here on Tuesday night for the St. Edmond girls, as they were ousted from postseason play by No. 6 (Class 2A) Panorama, 74-46.

Next up for Panorama is Interstate-35, which knocked out Ogden last night, 55-46. The regional final will be in Waukee on Monday, as Van Meter and Des Moines Christian meet in the other semi.

The Gaels (5-19 overall) scored a 68-44 victory over Eagle Grove last Saturday to begin regional play, ending a eight-game losing skid in the process.

Megan Flattery closed out her St. Edmond career with a strong game, scoring 20 points and grabbing six rebounds. Livi Huss and Erin Flattery each added eight, while Jacque Oberg had four. Huss also collected seven rebounds.

“We were within two halfway through the second quarter and the game started getting called a little different,” SEHS head coach Scott Messerly said. “They let us play more in the first, but were calling some touchy fouls in the second and that got three of our girls in foul trouble.

“From there, (Panorama) made a run and hit a three just before halftime (that pushed the lead from 10 to 13).”

Four players from Panorama reached double figures, led by Bailey Beckman’s 19. Devyn Kemble added 18, Hope Wilderman 17 and Faith Powell 12.

“We played triangle-and-2 much of the night and it was working,” Messerly said. “(Panorama) had some girls step up and knock down some shots that don’t normally do that. In the postseason, the really good teams find extra scorers when they need it, and they are a good team.

“I’m just proud of the way the girls continued to fight and battle. We had too many turnovers again, but we pushed until the end.”

Just two members of the St. Edmond roster will not be back next year, as Megan Flattery and Page Kinney graduate. Flattery finished ranked in the Top-10 all-time for SEHS scoring leaders with 730 career points in 88 games, including leading the team each of the past two seasons.

“We’ll miss Megan and Page for what they brought to the team each and every day,” Messerly said. “Megan was our leader and our captain, while Page fought through some injuries this year but was always there to push her teammates.

“We’ll also miss Holly Mullen, who was our manager for four years. She helped me with everything and will be missed.”

Panorama (21-1) has won 11 in a row, including six wins by at least 20 points.
