FDSH starts second season at home
The Fort Dodge boys open Class 4A postseason play Monday night at home against Des Moines East.
Tip in this Substate 2 quarterfinal is set for 7 p.m. The winner meets Des Moines North on Friday.
On Friday, the Dodgers (13-8 overall) finished up regular season play with a 68-38 setback to Ames. The loss snapped a two-game win streak, as FDSH is 7-4 over its last 11 games.
Brothers Malcolm and Solomon Clayton lead the Dodgers in scoring, averaging 15 and 14 points per game. They are also first and second on the team in rebounding, assists and steals this year.
Junior Trey Mosley averages nine points a game, with sophomore Jordan Jackson contributing five and senior Brady Read three.
Fort Dodge reached 13 wins during the regular season for the first time since qualifying for state in 2005-06 and just the second time since 1989.
East (3-18) has lost 11 in a row, with only two of those defeats coming by single digits. They closed out the regular season with a 70-56 loss to West Des Moines Valley.
The Scarlets’ wins this year came against Des Moines Lincoln (twice) and Ottumwa.
Senior Cameron Cramer and junior Daires Adems lead East in scoring, as Cramer averages 13.1 and Adems 11.6. They have made a combined 89 three-pointers on the year.
On the opposite side of the bracket sits third-ranked Waukee (18-3), who will await the winner of Ankeny (9-11) and Southeast Polk (3-18).
