FD swimmers win 4 events

WEST DES MOINES — The No. 11 Fort Dodge swim team couldn’t stop No. 3 Dowling in a battle of Top-15 teams.

The Dodgers won four events, but lost the meet 107-63.

“They’re (Dowling) stacked and deep,” Greathouse said. “We have relays that are in the Top-6, but they have two relays at the same event that could be in the top six.”

Mitchell Emery was a double winner for the Dodgers, capturing first in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.

Emery crossed the tape in 22.52 in the freestyle and 52.20 in the butterfly.

“Mitch was working his butt off over Christmas break,” Greathouse said. “He is pretty tired right now, but has been consistant and hopefully that will lead to big drops.

“Mitch has shown his dominance and he got pushed in the butterfly. The kid from Dowling had his lifetime best time, but Mitch got the best of him.”

Cole Pearson won the 100 freestyle in 50.20.

Cole Davis was the other individual winner, capturing gold in the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.

The 400 freestyle team of Emery, Landon Getting, Davis and Pearson finished second in 3:21.82.

The 200 freestyle team of Emery, Trent Woodhouse, Getting and Pearson were also runners up in 1:32.92.

Andrew Fierke was second in the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:03.10.

“The biggest time drop of the night was Andrew Fierke,” Greathouse said. He went from a 5:09 to a 5:03 in the 500.”
