IOWA FALLS — The St. Edmond girls couldn’t earn the season sweep over Iowa Falls-Alden on Friday, as the Cadets turned the tide.

The Gaels (4-11 overall, 2-8 North Central Conference) dropped a 56-39 decision to the Cadets the second time around.

In the first meeting, St. Edmond earned a 43-39 victory. The Cadets were 14-for-73 from the field and 1-for-29 from three-point range in that contest.

“They struggled last time, but we were talking at halftime and they shot around 80 percent in the first half (on Friday),” said St. Edmond head coach Scott Messerly. “It was just a game where we were behind from the get-go and we could never catch up.

“This was a total different team this time around.”

Katie Meyer paced the Cadets with 17 points. Abby Redmond had 12 points and Madelyn Jewell added 10.

“In the first quarter, they jumped on us,” Messerly said. “They didn’t shoot the ball well last time. The Meyer girl really hurt us inside.”

Megan Flattery led the Gaels with 12 points. Erin Flattery had eight, while Jacque Oberg had seven.

The Gael will play their third straight game today as they host Carroll Kuemper. Tip is set for 6:15 p.m. in the Gael gym.
