MARSHALLTOWN – The Fort Dodge cross country teams competed at the CIC Iowa Conference Meet in Marshalltown on Thursday.

The Dodger boys (117) finished fifth, while Dowling (22) was the champion.

Rayn Wagner (17:02) was the top finisher for the Dodgers in 15th, earning All-Conference honors.

Also competing for the Dodgers was Jason Halverson (18th in 17:08), Justin Vaughan (19th in 17:12), Maxwell Hanish (31st in 18:52) and Brennen DeCoursey (34th in 19:23).

“Ryan led the boys again and did a great job, followed by Jason and Justin,” said Fort Dodge head coach Tim Hanson. “Justin defintely had a breakout race, which was great.

“I thought we ran pretty well for not being in a meet in 23 days.”

On the girls side, Gabby Estlund (16th in 20:28), Anna Taylor (34th in 24:21) and Brylea Grady (37th in 25:28) led Fort Dodge. Estlund’s performance earned her All-Conference honors.

Johnston turned in a perfect score of 15 with the top five finishers.

“Gabby ran extremely well,” Hanson said. “I think she surprised herself because she didn’t feel like she was running that fast on a difficult course.”

Freshman Nathaniel Madden was the top junior varsity boys finisher in 27th (20:01). Riley Crimmins was 28th in 20:19.
