Tritons tumble at Coffeyville
COFFEYVILLE, Kan. – The Iowa Central football team couldn’t break into the win column here on Saturday, as they dropped a 47-6 decision to Coffeyville.
The Tritons (0-7 overall) scored one touchdown on a Paul Campbell 12-yard run.
“Our offense was anemic as ever,” said Iowa Central head coach Kevin Twait. “Our defense played strong, but we just couldn’t do anything offensively.
“It was tough sledding.”
Coffeyville had an impressive afternoon on the ground and through the air.
Coleman Key threw four touchdown passes, including a 71-yard strike to start the contest.
The Tritons trailed Coffeyville (5-3) by a 24-0 count at the half.
Key connected with Terry Wright twice, Cole Murphy and Leonard Green.
Green also had a rushing touchdown, as did Marcelus Ware.
Cooper Lee kicked a field goal, and Coffeyville had a safety.
The Tritons are back in action Saturday when they host Iowa Western at 2:30 p.m.
