Hartley breaks school record

AMES – Taylor Hartley broke another school record for the Fort Dodge swim team on Tuesday.

Hartley won the 200 individual medley at the Ames Invitational in 2:13.94. The junior was also second in the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:02.44.

“Taylor is just ecstatic,” said Fort Dodge head coach Ashley Koons. “She swam a personal best and she is in a great place the third week into the season.”

Ames won the meet, 145-40.

“A lot of girls are sick and injured,” Koons said. “So, we mixed and matched our events some.

“Ames is the best program in the state (the Little Cyclones have won four consecutive championships).”

The Dodgers will host the Gary Winkler Invitational on Saturday.
