Gael boys lose tight contest
The St. Edmond boys tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Iowa Falls-Alden here Tuesday at Butler Courts.
Trent Woodhouse and Nelson Cook each claimed singles wins for the Gaels.
In doubles play, Patrick Bocken and Woodhouse and Nick Doyle and Cook both earned victories.
“We’ve unfortunately had some lousy weather, so we hadn’t been able to play since last Monday at Spencer,” said SEHS head coach Eugene Carlson. “We did better moving our feet and were a little more aggressive. Cook was gone to all-state jazz band competition last week, but he did exceptionally well (last night) and didn’t show any nerves at all. Woodhouse is looking pretty solid, too.”
On the junior varsity side, Jake Bodensteiner, Gage Johnson and Min Sung Kang all fell short for the Gaels.
Next outing for St. Edmond is Thursday when they host Webster City. Start time is set for 4:30 p.m.
