Ground game, D power Lynx

CLEAR LAKE – The Webster City rushing attack overwhelmed Clear Lake here Friday, as the sixth-ranked (Class 3A) Lynx posted a 44-13 victory over Clear Lake.

In his first start of the season, Robert Fredericksen rushed 31 times for 213 yards and three touchdowns for Webster City (2-0 overall). Fredericksen scored from 3, 4 and 4 yards out.

Payton Kannuan added 88 yards on just nine carries and a score. Drew Fielder (11 for 40) and Trace Kepler (3 for 36) also got in Webster City’s 56-carry, 388-yard effort.

The Lynx defense did the rest, surrendering just 68 total yards and four first downs.

The Lions had only six net rushing yards on 29 attempts.

Caleb Olson spearheaded Webster City’s defensive effort with nine tackles.

Zach Lester intercepted four passes in the first half alone for the Lions (0-2).
