Miller is asking a judge to order the school to stop those activities and give the affected students their money back. The attorney general is also asking for a $40,000 fine for every violation of the Iowa Consumer Fraud Act.
La'James International College is also being sued in Webster County District Court by a former student, Samantha Sloan, and her mother, JoEllen Sloan, both of Colfax. A phone call seeking comment from Amber Sturtz, the administrator at the college's Fort Dodge campus, wasn't returned Thursday.
In addition to its Fort Dodge headquarters, the school has Iowa campuses in Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Johnston and Iowa City and additional campuses in East Moline, Illinois, and Fremont, Nebraska.
