A Fort Dodge muffler shop will shortly relocate as the construction of a nearby strip mall continues.
The Muffler Center Ltd., located at Fifth Avenue South and 29th Street, will be moving to the former Walsh Auto Sales building at 3585 Fifth Ave. S., according to Mitch Frank, the owner of the shop.
He said next Thursday will be its last day at the current site. It will reopen at the new location on Sept. 2, he added.
That same day, crews will begin demolishing the newly vacant building so that the ground it sits on can become part of a parking lot for the strip mall.
That 15,000-square-foot strip mall will be the home of a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant and three other businesses.
The developer of the mall, Howard Allen, of Waterloo, declined Thursday to name the other three businesses. He said any announcements will have to come from representatives of those companies.
Construction of the mall began last spring. It is expected to open by the end of the year.
The mall will be a $3.6 million investment, according to information presented to city officials.
