Jury selection in the first-degree murder trial of Derrick McElroy will resume at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday.
McElroy, 28, of Fort Dodge, is accused of shooting Brandyn Preston, 19, in the neck at a bonfire party in May 2011. Preston later died from the injuries he sustained in the shooting.
Throughout the morning, Doug Hammerand, assistant Iowa attorney general, questioned potential jurors about their knowledge of the case, connection to any witnesses or people involved and whether they could be impartial.
The defense will question potential jurors after the lunch recess.
