Someone shot a 17-year-old male outside his home in the 800 block of Fourth Avenue North early Saturday morning, according to officials with the Fort Dodge Police Department.
Officers report receiving a call of possible gun fire in the area of the 300 block of North Eighth or North Ninth Street around 1:30 a.m., but when they arrived in the area they were unable to find any evidence of shots being fired despite talking to several witnesses who had heard eight or nine shots.
Within 15 minutes of the initial call, a second call was made reporting that a teenager had arrived at Unity Point-Trinity Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the forearm. The victim told officers he had been outside of his house on the 800 block of Fourth Avenue North when a dark colored, four-door car drove by and fired at him.
The young man had sustained a non-life-threatening wound and was treated and released from the emergency room.
