CLASS 5A

Dowling 3, Valley 2

Claudia Farrell struck out 11 batters on West Des Moines Dowlng's way to a third place finish in 5A.

The Marroons (30-9 overall) picked up a 3-2 victory over the rival Tigers (27-14).

Kaila Konz finished 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Kaitlyn Moses also had a double and drove in two runs.

Farrell and Olivia Walton also had RBI.

For Valley, Mandi Roemich had two doubles and Brooke O'Hollearn had two hits as well. Lexi Merritt had the lone RBI.

CLASS 4A

Carlisle 9, Norwalk 6

Carlisle earned a 9-6 victory over Norwalk in the 4A third-place game.

The Wildcats (35-3) had nine hits in the win.

Payton Mercer went 3-for-3 with an RBI and run. Pitcher Gabby Schnathorst chipped in two hits and drove in four runs.

Abby Davis also had two hits and an RBI for Carlisle.

Mel Stevens and Katie Elliott both had home runs for Norwalk (28-14). Stevens finished 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Elliott was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run.

CLASS 3A

Greene County 10,

East Marshall 3

In its first-ever state tournament appearance, Greene County came away with a third-place finish.

The Rams (29-8), who lost to eventual champion Clarke in the semifinals, earned a 10-3 win over East Marshall (33-5) on Friday.

Emily Christensen, Hannah Onken, Tressa Rasmussen and Carleigh Paup each had two hits.

Rasmussen had a home run drove in three runs. Kayla Mobley, Christensen both drove in two runs in the win as well.

For Norwalk, Taylor Fricke had a home run and drove in three.

Mariah Fritz, Bobbi Amendt and Kylee Hoskey each had two hits.

Marissa Promes picked up the win for Greene County, striking out seven batters.

CLASS 2A

Woodbury Central 8,

Highland 3

Woodbury Central toppled top-ranked Highland, 8-3, to finish third in 2A.

The Wildcats (30-6) had 13 hits on the day.

Halle Still registered three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs while scoring twice.

Erika Bates, Ellen Gallagher and Kristin Hubert contributed two hits each. Jade Petersen drove in two runs.

Bates hit a home run.

For Highland (32-3) Cheyann Adamson was 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Courtnee Hahn, Morgan Craig and Seaira Drish tallied two hits each.

CLASS 1A

AGWSR 9,

Martensdale-St. Mary's 7

AGWSR defeated Martensdale-St. Mary's 9-7 to finish third in Class 1A.

The Cougars (29-7) recorded 12 hits in the contest. Ashley Sicard was 3-for-4 with three RBI. Maddie Deters had two hits and Olivia Ingledue drove in two runs.

Kaitlyn Schad finished with three hits for the Blue Devils (26-6). Nicole Shutt, Vicki Kordick and Riley Coates had two hits each. Kylie Reindl socked a home run and drove in three runs.
