FOREST CITY - Regular season records mean nothing once the postseason rolls around.
Just ask the Eagle Grove baseball team.
The Eagles roughed up homestanding Forest City in a Class 2A district final here Saturday, winning 12-0 to move within a single victory of the state tournament despite just a 10-18 overall record.
Senior Deion Shivers had a perfect 3-for-3 night in the win with a double. Eagle Grove plated two runs in the second and one in the third, and a six spot in the fifth finished the job against the Indians (18-12).
That was more than enough for senior pitcher Tyler Vorrie (6-5), who tossed a complete game four-hit shutout. Vorrie struck out three.
Jake Wilde, Austin Griffin, Devon Omvig and Mike Dicke all added two hits a piece to pace the balanced Eagle offense. Dylan Thielen also tripled.
