ALGONA - Investigators are seeking to identify the person who stabbed an Emmetsburg man at an Algona bar Saturday night.
A "special music event" was being held at After Life, 212 East State St. in Algona Saturday, according to a statement from Assistant Algona Police Chief Kendall Pals.
"It was reported that a disturbance began in the bar and then migrated out to the sidewalk area," Pals said.
At 10:41 p.m., Algona Police and Algona EMS were dispatched to the bar after a report of a stabbing came in.
The victim, Cody Henry, 33, of Emmetsburg, had been stabbed once with what investigators are calling "an unknown object."
Henry was first taken to Kossuth Regional Health Center before being transported to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.
Because of "tension in and around the business following the incident," the bar closed for the rest of the night.
Officers spent the night speaking to witnesses and looking for evidence to identify a suspect.
Anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to call the Algona Police Department at (515) 295-3515.
Officers were assisted at the scene by the Kossuth County Sheriff's Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
