POCAHONTAS - The St. Edmond baseball squad took care of Pocahontas Area here Tuesday night, winning 13-1 in six innings.
Six different Gaels had at least two hits, as the visitors plated four runs in the third, fourth and sixth frames. Leadoff man Colin Flattery was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a pair of RBI, while Robert Flattery, Hank Crimmins, Ryan Szalat and Reid Johnson all drove in a pair.
St. Edmond (12-8 overall) had 16 hits against the Indians (2-11).
''We did a good job at the plate and our pitchers threw strikes,'' Gael head coach Joe Shanks said. ''We're in the race for a No. 1 or 2 seed in the district, so we're treating this (current) stretch of games like a mini-pennant race.
''You always take a road win whenever you can get it. We did what we had to do.''
Jason Setterdahl and Robert Flattery combined for a two-hitter. The duo struck out nine and walked only one in all.
