The St. Edmond baseball team had their bats silenced in dropping an 8-1 North Central Conference decision to Humboldt here Wednesday at Rogers Sports Complex.
Falling for a fourth straight game, the 10th-ranked (Class 2A) Gaels (9-8 overall, 4-4 NCC) were held to just three hits by Wildcat hurlers Brenden Schnell and Chris Witzke.
"We still have a long way to go to get where we want to be," said SEHS head coach Joe Shanks. "Schnell is a good pitcher and we kept battling him. (Humboldt) hit the ball pretty well the first three or four innings, too. I thought they looked good at the plate (Wednesday)."

Schnell (4-1) worked the first six innings, allowing three hits and one earned run. The junior right-hander walked none and fanned 10.
Witzke, a sophomore southpaw, then came on in relief to strike out the side in the seventh.
"Brenden did a super job of attacking (the strike zone) all night long, and our defense made some good plays behind him," HHS head coach Jason Thurm said. "Our pitching has been strong all year long. Hopefully, we can get the bats going a little more now as well."
