URBANDALE - The eighth-ranked (Class 4A) Fort Dodge baseball team recorded their second split in as many days during a CIC crossover twinbill with Urbandale here Tuesday.
The Dodgers (11-3 overall) defeated the J-Hawks by a 5-3 count in the opener, before Urbandale pulled away for a 12-4 win in the nightcap.
Junior Austin Halligan went 3-for-3 in game one for FDSH, which also split on Monday against Marshalltown. Senior JC Hatcher had three RBI, a pair of doubles, and earned the save in relief of classmate Cory Alexander.
The J-Hawks (9-2) broke open a close contest in the second affair. Ahead 4-2 in the fifth, Fort Dodge surrendered six runs in the frame and then three more in the sixth.
Senior Andrew Stover was 2-for-4 at the plate for the Dodgers.
''We don't have anything to be upset about,'' FDSH head coach Blake Utley said. We played well in the opener, but to credit Urbandale, they really got after it and had a lot of well-placed hits in game two.

''We had a few mistakes that snowballed on us, and they really jumped at the opportunity to pull away. But (the J-Hawks) had been playing solid ball, and we used a lot of pitchers toward the end of the night. So we'll take the road split. I think both ballclubs earned it.''
The Dodgers are now off until Monday, when they visit Mason City.
