SIOUX CITY - The St. Edmond softball team split with two Class 2A ranked teams in the Sioux City Heelan Invitational on Saturday.
The Gaels (4-1 overall) lost to No. 8 Woodbury Central 6-5 in eight innings and defeated No. 3 Lawton-Bronson 2-0.
"I'm happy with both performances,'' said St. Edmond head coach Paul Hunt. "It was a fun little rematch (against L-B) after playing them at state. They had their whole group back.''
St. Edmond built a 5-0 lead against the Wildcats through the first six innings. The Wildcats tacked on one in the bottom of the sixth and tied the contest with a four-run seventh.
They then picked up the victory with a run in the bottom of the eighth.
Amanda Lansman led the Gaels at the plate with two hits and struckout nine batters in the pitching circle.
