Fort Dodge Police want to identify the person who led them on a chase before abandoning a stolen vehicle.
The incident happened Wednesday night.
Around 8 p.m., officers received a complaint about a black Plymouth Roadrunner without license plates driving erratically in the area of the 800 block of South 15th Street.
When Sgt. Joel Lizer spotted the vehicle, he tried pulling it over, but according to Police Chief Tim Carmody, the driver kept going and fled the scene.
The chase went into Pleasant Valley, then towards the Coleman District. Carmody said Lizer lost sight of the vehicle when it fled to Coleman.
After speaking with witnesses, officers were able to locate the Plymouth in the 1700 block of 17th Avenue S.W. the same night.
Police officers and deputies with the Webster County Sheriff's Department searched the area but weren't able to find the suspect.
Carmody said officers later discovered that the Plymouth had been reported stolen.
Though the vehicle has been recovered, officers are still trying to identify the suspect.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the FDPD at 573-1426 or Webster County Crime Stoppers at 573-1444.
