HAVELOCK - A man who was being served an arrest warrant is now facing charges of assaulting a peace officer.
Paul Henderson, 53, of Havelock, was arrested on May 23.
Pocahontas County deputies responded to Henderson's home at 1261 Brenton Ave. in Havelock to arrest him on a misdemeanor warrant, according to a statement from Pocahontas County Sheriff Bob Lampe.
Deputies tried to arrest Henderson, who was standing outside of his home, but Lampe said Henderson showed a knife and started resisting deputies.
"Henderson became aggressive with the knife towards one of the deputies," according to Lampe.
Henderson was Tased.
He was arrested without further incident and taken to the Pocahontas County Jail, where he was charged with interference with official acts while displaying a dangerous weapon and assault on a peace officer while displaying a dangerous weapon. Henderson is also facing charges of fifth-degree criminal mischief and trespassing on the original warrant.
He was ordered held on $10,600 bond in the Pocahontas County Jail.
