Janssen — 75 years old

POMEROY — Dorothy Janssen, of Pomeroy, celebrated her 75th birthday on Wednesday.

Her family includes husband Wilbert; DeeDee and Douglas Kuklenz, of The Colony, Texas; Garry Janssen of Claremont, Minn.; Debbie Janssen, of Humboldt; and Jennifer and Dwight Swanson, of Rosemount, Minn. She has six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Janssen grew up in North Carolina and was an accomplished basketball forward for Tri High School, where she graduated in 1957. She met and married her husband while he was stationed in the Navy in Jacksonville, Fla. They were married Feb. 7, 1959. She worked on the farm with her husband for many years and as a nurses aide at the Fonda Care Center for one year. They moved to Pomeroy in 1984. She then worked at Casey’s General Store in Pomeroy for 11 years, making pizzas, until she retired.
Janssen and her husband are members of St. John’s Lutheran Church — Lizard Township of Palmer.
