A number of familiar names are perched near the top of the 19th annual Iowa Golf Association Four-Ball Championships at the Fort Dodge Country Club.
The tandems of Cory Braunschweig and Luke Essing, Colin Pearson and Tanner Kesterson, and Nate Schill and Lucas Boyd are all tied for the lead after the opening round at six-under par 65 in the open division. Braunschweig and Pearson are Fort Dodge Senior High graduates; Essing is from Pocahontas; and Schill is a former Prairie Valley standout.
Three duos - including Pocahontas native J.D. Anderson and Bret Taylor - are one shot back at five-under 66.

Mason City’s Joel Yunek, a Lake City High School graduate, follows through on a tee shot at No. 14 at the Fort Dodge Country Club on Friday in the opening round of the IGA?Four-Ball Championships.
Braunschweig, Essing, Kesterson and Pearson will comprise the final pairing, which tees off at 1:40 p.m. Saturday.
On the senior side, Algona's Bill Manske and partner Ron Peterson are in a first-place tie at five-under 66. Doug Rhodes and Lee Sullivan are the current co-leaders. That quartet will begin play at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the final senior group.
Seventy-two teams are involved in the two-day event, which is a two-person best ball in both rounds. Blake Waller and Ben Juffer won last year's open championship; Juffer is now a pro, but Waller is in action this weekend, paired with Zach Steffen.
