The Fort Dodge girls soccer team saw their first regional opponent on the pitch Tuesday night, falling to No. 6 (Class 3A) Dowling, 3-0.
The Maroons found the net twice in the first half and added one more insurance goal late. Dowling and the Dodgers (3-7 overall) will play June 4 in a 3A, Region 1 contest in Des Moines.
"I saw a lot of good things from our girls," FDSH head coach Nathan Ramthun said. "Dowling came in and I don't think expected much from us, as they were not playing hard the first five minutes or so and made a bunch of changes.

"Our players stuck in there and stayed with them. I thought our defense as a whole did well in transition and kept many more potential goals out of the net."
Ramthun pointed to Paige Savery as "having some really good runs and playing well on both sides of the ball."
Fort Dodge returns to action next Tuesday for Senior High against Des Moines North.
