Comedia Musica Players will conduct youth auditions for its fall production of the musical "Annie" at 6 p.m. May 29 and 4 p.m. May 31 in the St. Edmond High School band room. Those wishing to audition may come to either session.
Audition packets are available by contacting Comedia Musica Players at firstname.lastname@example.org, or you may pick up an audition packet at Burch Manufacturing, 618 First Ave. N. during normal business hours.
Performance dates will be Nov. 6 through 8, with regular rehearsals beginning the last week of August. Approximately eight to 12 girls will be cast in the show. Auditions are open to all girls currently in Kindergarten through seventh grade (entering first through eighth grade in the fall of 2014).
The May auditions are for the following roles only:
Annie - a 10-year-old redheaded orphan girl, optimistic and spunky, whose only wish is to find her parents.
Molly, Pepper, Duffy, July, Tessie, and Kate - the orphans at the orphanage, ages ranging from 6 to 13.
Orphan Chorus - orphans at the orphanage, ages 6-13, non-speaking roles.
Auditions will consist of singing, choreography and script reading.
Amy Porter, president of Comedia Musica Players, said the troupe chose this show for its family friendly appeal, memorable songs and very active ensemble.
"If you liked the movie version, you'll love the musical," she said.
The show is being produced by the creative team of Buzz Powers (show director), David Moklebust (music director and conductor) and Adam Liker (choreographer).
Comedia Musica Players, a local musical theater troupe,was founded in 1968 by Larry Mitchell.
