To the editor:
On behalf of the It Gets Better FD & Beyond family, we would like to express our gratitude for the success of the Kids Choice Awards that was held April 13 at Fort Frenzy.
The mentors who were carefully selected by our youths emulate the utmost humility, integrity and professionalism with a desire to make things better for the lives of others. We all were touched by their stories.
The FDMS Cross Country team and coaches Newman and Greathouse are true assets to this community and class acts. What a joy it was to meet such a selfless bunch of kids who really show us to live for one another.
This beautiful event would not have been possible if not for the sincere generosity of Fort Frenzy. They truly care about their community and more importantly, the people in it. They deserve our Community Caring award without any doubt.
You all are amazing and we are forever grateful.
The evening was recorded with extreme talent from the FD camera club represented by Jason Liska, Keith Kutz, Dee Schnurr and our own George McGhee. These individuals made this night fun for everyone.
We would also like to thank Jennifer Marsh and Amy Seward from FD Press, Dawn Bliss from The Messenger and Three Eagles Communications for spreading the word of this event and the great people involved.
The food was awesome from Fort Frenzy and The Barbeque Thief - Cornell Lowery, with a lovely blessing by our very own Pastor Eric Howard.
Thank you to Larita's Cakes and More for donating cupcakes for our Senior ambassadors.
We look forward to another night when the choices of the kids can be heard.
Please join us for our next free community event at the Veterans Memorial Park for our Mother's Day Memorial, "A Celebration of Life" May 9 at 6:30 p.m. This is a time for the community to heal together. Gunderson's Funeral Home will be doing a Candle Remembrance Ceremony by the lake.
