The Fort Dodge Public Works yard waste site will open for the regular season March 31.
Hours will be 8 a.m. to noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Pickups or trailers with loose yard waste and/or branches must be covered with a tarp to prevent items from blowing out. Residents will empty their own bags at the site. All tree branches must be bundled; there are no exceptions.
The yard waste site will be closed on all observed holidays.
Participants should use the east entrance and drive to the compost site at the south end of the facility. Staff will be on-site to direct the operations.
Beginning April 16, the City Sanitation Division will begin weekly curbside pickup of yard waste on Wednesdays only. To avoid missing collection, yard waste must be put out by 6 a.m.
Tree branches must be in bundles no larger than 18 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length. Tree branches must be no larger than 4 inches in diameter. All bundles must have an affixed orange sticker. Weight limit on bundles and yard waste bags is 50 pounds.
Yard waste must be placed in kraft paper bags with orange stickers affixed and will not be picked up if in a plastic bag of any type. Yard waste bags and stickers can be purchased at any grocery or discount store. Stickers can also be purchased at the Water Billing office, located on the first floor of the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S.
