To the editor:
I have concerns about the size of the new garbage receptacles newly issued by the city of Fort Dodge.
My parents, along with many, many other citizens of Fort Dodge are having great difficulties maneuvering these large cumbersome containers. They are not physically able to get them to the curb or back off the street after they are emptied, unless they have the help of a kind neighbor or relative.
Here in Carroll County, when we switched to similar containers, we had the option to choose a smaller container, which many have utilized, particularly the elderly, single person living alone and some disabled.
These smaller containers are manageable, plus not all families need such a large garbage unit for their trash. I hope the city decides to offer this option to its citizens.
