DES MOINES - Unable to get on track in its regular-season finale, the Fort Dodge boys basketball team dropped a 70-58 decision to Des Moines Hoover on Tuesday night.

Senior Blake Wilder paced the Dodgers (11-9 overall) with 19 points and seven rebounds. JC Hatcher, another senior, chipped in 17 points, while classmate Zach Martinson recorded 15 points and seven boards.

"We're having a hard time getting all five guys on the same page right now," FDSH head coach Tom Daniel said. "It was not an easy night inside, but Blake did a great job in a real physical game.

"JC gave us 17, but we still need to find scoring from other places. We obviously have to clean up our defense as well. Giving up 70 (points) is just too much."

As a team, the Dodgers shot 45.8 percent (22 of 48) from the field. Fort Dodge, which committed only seven turnovers, finished 12-for-17 at the free throw line compared to 33 of 35 for the Huskies (12-8).

"Hoover closed the game out, and they didn't allow us to make a run," said Daniel. "We had it to six with about five minutes left, but we turned the ball over twice and couldn't take advantage. Now, we have to go back to work and fix some things before the playoffs."
