The Fort Dodge boys basketball team has two games remaining before they hit the postseason stretch.
The Dodgers (10-8 overall) will travel to Humboldt tonight and play at Des Moines Hoover (11-7) on Tuesday night. Action will start at 7:45 p.m. in both contests.
Fort Dodge is coming off a disappointing loss to Ames on Friday, where they had a chance to claim the CIC Northern championship.
"We have adjusted since the Ames loss,'' said Fort Dodge head coach Tom Daniel. "We have to get the bad taste out of our mouth and then focus and get ready for the playoffs.''
Humboldt enters the contest with 13 victories and junior Jaxon Heinz is the leading threat for the Wildcats.
"We have a lot of respect for Heinz,'' Daniel said. "He's a nice point guard and he'd be a good guard in 4A. (Brady) Ross is a good player as well and they have shooters that flank around him.
"It's on their home court in an intimate setting. We can't let them get any momentum, or we'll have problems. They hang with (No. 1) Clear Lake and that's something we want to avoid.''
Heinz comes into the contest averaging 16.3 points per game and has hit 37 three pointers on the year.
"It's not about beating Humboldt,'' Daniel said. "We want to get win No. 11 and secure an avobe .500 season.''
On Tuesday the Dodgers will play their final regular season contest against Hoover, who has two players averaging double figures.
Chris King is the leading scorer for Hoover at 20.3 points per contest. He has hit 39 three-pointers on the year. Malachi Canada is averaging 14.8 points a clip.
"We haven't beat Hoover since I've been here,'' Daniel said. "They're athletic and quick. They get after you up and down the court.
"We have to take care of the ball and try to handle the pressure. These games will be a good indicator of what direction we are going to take as we head into the playoffs.''
Fort Dodge is led in the scoring column by senior JC Hatcher. The Iowa Central baseball recruit is scoring 17.9 points per night.
Blake Wilder (12.2) and Zach Martinson (12.2) are also averaging double figures.
