MARSHALLTOWN - Josh Lee finished his Dodger swim career here Saturday with his fourth state appearance.

The Dodger senior competed in three events at the state meet inside the Marshalltown YMCA.

"Over four years, Josh has competed in 11 events at state,'' said Fort Dodge head coach Joel Greathouse. "He finished off his senior season with his fastest times ever. He dropped more time, and with as much as he's dropped, it's hard to keep doing it."

Lee was 21st in the 100 freestyle in a time of 49.55. Mark McGlaughli of Iowa City West won the event in 45 seconds flat.

Lee was also the anchor in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.

The Dodger quartet of Lee, juniors Rob Leigh and Caleb Asay, along with freshman Mitchell Emery, placed 22nd in 1:31.85.

Iowa City West was the event champion (1:25.46).

"It's great to have kids at a young age make it,'' Greathouse said. "Mitch had his fastest split ever and we dropped half a second on the relay.

"They responded well to the pressure.''

The Dodgers were 22nd in the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:25.43. The team of Leigh, freshman Cole Davis, Emery and Lee were the competitors.

Iowa City West won the event (3:08.43).

Iowa City West cruised to the team title with 205 points. Cedar Rapids Washington (136) was second.

"Rob had a strong season,'' Greathouse said. "He had a drop in relay splits and he's been training hard.''
