Another career high for Triton sophomore

Dylan Travis loves playing inside Hodges Fieldhouse.

For the third consecutive game, the Triton sophomore had 25-plus points in his home gym and led Iowa Central to an upset victory over No. 19 Iowa Lakes.

The Tritons (16-10 overall, 5-4 ICCAC) upset No. 19 Iowa Lakes 102-96 on Saturday, for their second victory over a Top-20 team. The Tritons also cruised to a 95-82 victory over sixth-ranked Ellsworth a little over three weeks ago.

The Triton sophomore scored a career-high 37 points to pace the Tritons.

In this three-game homestand, Travis has 102 points. He scored a then career-high 36 against Kirkwood and had 29 points against Grand View.

Malik Brooks had 21 points and Javonte Young had 20. Jesse Jones was also in double figures with 12 points.

The Tritons held a 94-86 advantage with about a minute remaining. Clutch free throw shooting down the stretch preserved the victory.

Iowa Central hit 8 of 10 free throws in the final sixty seconds, over matching two triples from the Lakers.

The 102-point outburst was the second highest of the season for the Tritons. They scored 113 in the Des Moines Classic and had a 101 against Simpson.

With the victory, Iowa Central has won three straight and improves its home record to 8-1 on the season.

Iowa Central will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Clinton at 6 p.m.
