No. 1 Mustangs roll

LAKE CITY - The top-ranked Newell-Fonda girls earned a 73-45 victory over 11th-ranked South Central Calhoun.

Renee Maneman paced the Mustangs (16-1 overall) with 24 points. Taylor Schrank added 13. Claudia Larsen (11) and Hailey Falline (10) also reached double figures.

Haley Birks led the Titans (15-3) with 17 points. Michaela Graffunder added 14.

Indians flirt with 100 points

POMEROY - The Pocahontas Area girls nearly reached the 100-point plateau for the second time this season.

The Indians picked up a 93-52 victory over Storm Lake St. Mary's on Friday night. Pocahontas Area took a 70-34 lead at the half.

Hannah Stafford led the Indians with 23 points. Macey Bales had 18 points and eight rebounds, while Elle Ruffridge had 17 points and nine assists. Faith Meyer had 17 points.

Jasmine DeMars had 34 points for St. Mary's.

No. 9 Cougars win fifth straight

MANSON - The ninth-ranked (Class 2A) Manson Northwest Webster girls easily downed Alta-Aurelia on Friday, 60-33.

Faith Troshynski tallied 18 points for the Cougars (14-2 overall, 5-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference), while Brenna Peters added nine.

Cristena Heschke led the way for the Warriors (3-14, 2-5) with 10 points.

ALGONA - The Algona girls basketball team picked up a 50-43 victory over Iowa Falls-Alden on Friday night.

Carly Seely led the Bulldogs with 14 points. Abby Strohman had 13 for the Bulldogs and Tangy Wiseman had 11.

Lynx top Eagle Grove

WEBSTER CITY - The Webster City girls picked up their second win of the season, both coming against Eagle Grove.

The Lynx earned a 63-45 victory on Friday night.

Cassidy Bultena led Webster City with 19 points. Allie Flaws (12) and Lynne Chalfant (11) were also in double figures.

Kylee Almond led the Eagles with 18 and Megan Crail added 15.
