MARSHALLTOWN - It wasn't as easy as the first time around against Marshalltown, but the end result was the same for the Fort Dodge girls here Friday.
The Dodgers (8-9 overall, 2-2 CIC Northern Division) held on in the fourth quarter for a 44-41 victory over the Bobcats (3-16, 0-4).
In the first meeting Fort Dodge won in a 60-25 rout, but yesterday was a much different story.
"We had a feeling it was going to be tougher game at The Roundhouse. It's always a tough place to play,'' said Fort Dodge head coach Scott Timmerman. "Our shooting struggles definitely reflected that.
"Marshalltown put forth a spirited effort and came out with a lot of confidence.''
The Dodgers built a 23-17 halftime lead, but the Bobcats outscored Fort Dodge 14-8 in the third to knot the game at 31.

Fort Dodge didn't make a single basket from the floor in the fourth period, but they did knock down 13 free throws to seal the win.
"We definitely got it done at the free throw line,'' Timmerman said. "We handled the pressure (in the fourth quarter). We did a nice job of sinking those and got it going at the line.''
Free throws were the turning point for the Dodgers, who were 24-for-34 at the charity stripe. Fort Dodge struggled from the floor, connecting on just 9 of 37 attempts.
"The foul shots were huge for us,'' Timmerman said. "We also won a lot of scrambles that could have gone either way.
"We just didn't do a good job of taking care of the basketball in the third quarter and it caught up to us.''
Senior Ashley Altman turned in a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Lani Van Zyl checked in with nine points. Senior Tiana Mericle had seven points, as did freshman Justice Crooks.
Fort Dodge is back in action on Monday when they host Sioux City East. Tip is set for 6:15 p.m.
