Facing its final non-conference opponent of the season, the Iowa Central men's basketball team will host Grand View JV here tonight.
Tip is set for 6 p.m. at Hodges Fieldhouse.
The Tritons (13-10 overall) are aiming to snap a mini-two game slide. On Saturday, Iowa Central dropped an 84-79 decision at North Iowa Area.
"They are playing about .500 basketball, and they have knocked a couple of people off," said ICCC head coach Dennis Pilcher of Grand View JV. "We have eight more games left, with seven of those coming at home, so it would be nice to get a streak going here."
Sophomore guards Dylan Travis (15.8) and Jesse Jones (14.1) are the top scoring threats for the Tritons, who are averaging 74.7 points per contest. Freshman Ky Kramer (9.4), freshman Logan Losh (2.4) and sophomore Javonte Young (9.2) round out Iowa Central's starting five.
Travis has also posted team-highs in both total rebounds (88) and steals (33), while Young leads the way in assists (66).
"We need to play solid defense and rebound the basketball (this evening)," Pilcher said. "We want to push the ball up the floor. If we don't get a great shot in transition, we need to work (the ball) around to try and get an open look."
After starting their season with four straight losses, the Vikings (6-7) have prevailed in six of their past nine outings. Grand View JV, which is 1-5 this winter against ICCAC programs, suffered a 64-55 setback at Southwestern on Friday. All six of Grand View JV's wins on the season have come by seven points or less.
Last year, the Tritons rolled to a 71-35 victory over the Vikings.
Following tonight's action, Iowa Central welcomes 19th-ranked (NJCAA Div. II) Kirkwood (13-6) in a league matchup on Saturday. Start time is set for 3 p.m.
