Fort Dodge Senior High students Ben Ahlers and Sarah Amhof were recently selected to the Iowa State University Honor Choir.
The ISU Honor Choir provides talented high school singers an opportunity to perform in a select choir under the leadership of ISU faculty.
The choir consists of 95 members, chosen by live audition from among the finest high school musicians in the state. The students were tested on tonal memory, which is the ability to recall and sing a series of pitches played on the piano; sight-singing, which is the ability to accurately read and sing music not previously seen by the students; and a prepared solo.
The Honor Choir Festival takes place Feb. 9-10. The Festival Concert will be Feb. 10 in the Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall at Iowa State University in Ames. In addition to performing, the students will have the opportunity to interact with ISU music students and faculty, as well as hear performances by several of ISU's choral ensembles.
