Former correctional officer charged

A woman who was once employed as a correctional officer is accused of performing a sexual act upon an inmate almost a year ago.

Desiree B. Sells, 48, of Fort Dodge, is facing one count of sexual misconduct with offenders, an aggravated misdemeanor.

According to the criminal complaint filed with the Webster County attorney's office, Sells was a correctional officer at Fort Dodge Correctional Facility when she allegedly committed a sex act on Feb. 22, 2013.

The complaint alleges that the act was performed while Sells was on duty as a correctional officer.

She had her initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Friday morning. Magistrate William Habhab allowed Sells to remain free on bond and sent her case to District Court for scheduling.
