A Fort Dodge man is facing felony charges after allegedly breaking into the same Fort Dodge business twice over the past three months.
Blake A. Peterson, 20, of Fort Dodge, was arrested on Thursday in connection with the burglaries at Romantix, 15 N. Fifth St.
Police were called to the store on Sunday at 8:17 a.m. after they received a report of a burglary in progress, according to Police Chief Tim Carmody.
When they arrived, officers discovered the front entrance of the business was severely damaged. According to a witness, a truck had driven through the front entrance of the store.
Although a description of the truck was given to officers, they were unable to locate it at the time.
Officers collected evidence at the scene and Carmody said a store employee reported items missing.
On Thursday, Carmody said Officer Zach Stanley received information about the burglary. Using that information, officers obtained a search warrant for 2638 Fourth Ave. N. and searched the property.
Information developed during the investigation led to Peterson's arrest.
During the investigation, Carmody said Stanley discovered evidence that linked Peterson to a previous burglary at Romantix from Oct. 19, 2013.
Peterson has been charged with one count of first-degree criminal mischief, two counts of third-degree burglary and two counts of fourth-degree theft.
He was booked into the Webster County Jail and is scheduled to have his initial appearance this morning in Webster County Magistrate Court.
