As fire officials continue to investigate the cause of a blaze that destroyed a Fort Dodge home, a local entertainment center is lending a hand to the family that lived there.

From now until Friday, Fort Frenzy, 3232 First Ave. S., is holding a donation drive where items ranging from clothing to household items will be accepted for the family of James and Jodi Lennon, whose home at 1415 N. 11th St. was lost in a fire early Monday morning.

Effie Hill, general manager of Fort Frenzy, said one of the center's goals is to support the community.

"Fort Frenzy is a place for our community to come together," Hill said. "We really want to be involved and let people know that we're here to support everybody."

She said the loss experienced by the Lennons "is just heartbreaking and we would like to help out in any way we can."

Already, Fort Frenzy has seen several items donated for the Lennon family, and Hill said even more are expected by Friday.

"I think the community is really supportive of this family, and their hearts go out to them," she said.

While any food or household items will be accepted, Hill said those who bring in new, unused items will have their name entered in a drawing for a $100 Fort Frenzy gift card.

Fire Chief Kent Hulett said the cause of the fire, which was reported at 1:30 a.m. Monday, has not yet been determined.

"We've been out there off and on to make sure there haven't been any problems as far as smoldering material," Hulett said. "We also went out there and helped the family members recover some personal belongings."

Investigators believe the fire started in the basement. One of the members of the Lennon family and a Fort Dodge firefighter were injured during the blaze. Both were treated at Trinity Regional Medical Center and released.
