Police investigate shots fired call
The Fort Dodge Police Department is seeking information after gunshots were fired in the city Monday night.
According to a department press release, the Webster County Communications Center received multiple phone calls from people who heard shots fired in the area of Fourth Avenue North and North Eighth Street at 10:03 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found evidence that shots had been fired. Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored sedan leaving the area around the time of the calls.
On Tuesday morning, officers took a criminal mischief report at 324 N. Ninth St. Investigators said a stray bullet from the previous night had struck the house.
Investigators don't believe the house that was hit by the bullet was the target. They are working to identify the actual target.
