Indian girls win fifth straight game

POCAHONTAS - Behind a career-high 30 points from Elle Ruffridge, the Pocahontas Area girls pounded Sioux Central by a 61-38 final Friday night.

Ruffridge, a freshman, set a new school record with eight triples for the Indians (7-1 overall, 2-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference).

Hannah Stafford added 11 points for Pocahontas Area.

For the Rebels (3-6, 0-2), Nicole Hamilton led the way with 18 points.

Eagles fall short

BURNSIDE - The Southeast Webster-Grand girls dropped a 55-42 decision to Storm Lake St. Mary's Friday night.

Jossie Ferrari sparked the Eagles (2-6 overall) with 15 points.

Josie Breitsprecher and Nicole Williams each added seven points for SW-G.

For the Panthers (5-3), Jessica Demers poured in 37 points.

HUMBOLDT - The Humboldt girls edged Webster City by a 48-44 count Friday night.

Kessa Kuyper led the way for the Wildcats (3-4 overall, 3-3 in the North Central Conference) with 14 points.

Lauren Friesth also contributed 11 points for Humboldt.

Chelsey Wagoner tallied 11 points for the Lynx (0-7, 0-6).

Golden Bears survive

ALGONA - The Bishop Garrigan girls narrowly escaped with a 40-39 road victory over intra-city rival Algona Friday night.

Two Nicole Behr free throws with just one-tenth of a second remaining in the game proved to be the difference for the Golden Bears (3-5 overall, 3-3 in the North Central Conference).

Behr scored 15 points for Garrigan, while Emily Marlow netted seven.

Carly Seely paced the Bulldogs (3-5, 2-4) with 15 points. Tangy Wiseman added 12.
