EAGLE GROVE - Helen Catherine Arndorfer, the daughter of Thomas and Eloise (Benoit) Mallinger, was born February 12, 1938, in Duncombe, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, and was the big sister to six siblings: Patricia, Mike, Marilyn, Diane, Mark and Sheila. Helen graduated from St. Edmonds in Fort Dodge, Iowa "Class of 1956". She then went on to college and later taught elementary school before she married.

On August 20th, 1960, Helen was united in marriage with Roger Joseph Arndorfer and began her family. She raised a family of five children: Larry, Randy, Tim, Lynn and Kevin. Helen courageously returned to college at Buena Vista College where she graduated in 1987, she then re-entered the elementary teaching field and taught for several years prior to retirement.

Throughout her adult life, Helen was very active in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas where she held many offices in the local courts, became the Iowa State Regent for two terms, and later held the office of National Director. Helen was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove.

Roger and Helen celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2010. Helen always enjoyed travel, spending time with family, teaching, and helping others.

Helen passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the age of 75 years. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband Roger; son Larry and his wife Luann, grandson Bryan, granddaughter Ashley; son, Randy and his wife Katie, granddaughter Stephnie and her husband Derrick, great-grand- daughter Seven, great-grandson Simon, grandson Jason and his wife Karmela, great-granddaughter Jaderynn, great-grandson Liam; son Tim and his wife Debbie, granddaughter Alexandria, grandson Matthew; daughter Lynn and her husband Vincent, granddaughter Ellyse; son Kevin and his wife Reyna, grandson Joseph, granddaughter Eilidh and her six siblings: Patricia, Mike, Marilyn, Diane, Mark and Sheila.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, with Father Nils Hernandez officiating. A Rosary/Vigil Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. and visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove and also 1 hour prior to the services in the Parish Hall at Sacred Heart. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Fort Dodge.
