WEST DES MOINES - Andrew Stover played the role of hero for the Fort Dodge boys basketball team here Tuesday night.

Trailing by two points with just four-tenths of a second left, Stover hit a game-winning three-pointer to lift the Dodgers (2-1 overall) to a dramatic 58-57 road victory over West Des Moines Dowling.

"We were down four points with 16 seconds left, and people thought the game was over, but that's why you always play until the final horn and don't give up," said FDSH head coach Tom Daniel. "We've been on the wrong side of a lot of these losses, so it was huge for us to be able to grind it out. I was really happy for our guys. A lot of lessons were learned (last night)."

Senior Blake Wilder led the way for the Dodgers with 18 points and nine rebounds.

JC Hatcher, another senior, tallied 17 points, including 15 in the second half. Hatcher, who made a clutch triple late to cut the deficit to one, added five assists and four rebounds.

"Stover started (Tuesday), and (Sam) Kolacia came off the bench," Daniel said. "Sam hit some huge threes for us during a time in the game when points were at a grind. Stover didn't pout when he wasn't starting, either, which is the type of unselfishness we need from everyone on the team.""
